HCG Manavata Cancer Centre is considered as one of the best in cancer treatment, credit to their high success rate in pioneering surgical procedures and complex high-end treatments. One such successful case recently was the treatment of a Laryngeal Carcinoma patient, who got his voice back!
The patient was suffering severe pain in the throat and also detected a hoarseness in the voice which was progressive over 5 to 6 months. He visited Manavata Cancer Centre in March 2023 and underwent detailed examination and thorough investigation, which led to the diagnosis of, local advanced glottis carcinoma or Laryngeal Carcinoma.
The case was led by Dr. Mayuresh Virkar, Dr. Vijay Palwe and Dr. Prakash Pandit who studied the diagnosis and had multiple rounds of deliberation on the treatment procedure. They did not want to take a conservative approach because restoring the voice of the patient was critical as much as tackling the cancer. So they decided to take a calculated risk approach, relying on their medical expertise and the state-of-the-art infrastructure at Manavata Cancer Centre which could assist their aggressive approach. The team decided to undertake a chemoradiotherapy under key supportive care and after 7 weeks of treatment, the patient was assessed with a CT scan and mricolaryngoscopy which showed good positive response to the treatment.
